Oooooook this is great.

Those drums are sex.. And that sample is totally ambiguous but beautiful. If I had one gripe it would be that the sample blares a bit. It's better at the more quiet moments. The song evolves nicely and without too much flare, but that's the beauty of it.

BOULLIE responds:

Thanks for checkin out the sounds once again Dureagon.

I like it too. The vocals here are nice especially the samples using the tail end of them. This could use a groovy bassline to flesh it out a bit. One that isn't constant but sneaks up on you form time to time. That's just my brain talking though with my mind thinking.

zekee responds:

I hear you on the bassline. Too bad that the original file for this beat was on my old computer.. AInt no goin back on this one! It is what it is.. ;/

You gotta turn that volume up a bit dude. I think the drums here are a bit too restrained. The sample is quite nice and the rapid chops you do work here well. Im curious as to where you get your samples from.

zekee responds:

Yeah well i wanned to keep the drums here a bit laid back and keep the focus on the sample. Still I am quite useless when it comes to mastering and such, so I gladly take in the critique :)

I search for most of my samples on iTunes or Spotify. I start out by selecting either Jazz, soul or pop and then just look thru about 100 albums and songs til i find something usable. Most of the time i don't, but then there are days I do and thats when i sit down and make a beat.. :)

I like the sample. The drums are nice in this one and the chops you have are good. You are a machine gun chopper for sure. Its unfortunate you couldn't pull anything else out of this.

zekee responds:

Thanks for the love man

Original. But very... you. I like the drum groove you got going on. I see what you mean about the chops being short, but that's ok. You should try to mix up short and long cuts in some of your songs to make them more dynamic.

zekee responds:

Thanks for the review man. I feel you on that cutting, Im trying to make that shit work but damn, it's hard to break an old habit.. ;D

Groovy

I like the choice of instruments. I wish they could be a bit softer overall as some of them come across kind of harsh. I d like the melody and the drums ar eon point as usual.

eppskevin responds:

Yeah, after hearing this in the car, I can hear the high freq bleeding through. I'll probably clean that synth up to smooth that high freq out. Thanks, Dureagon!

Dooope! Nice tribute. You always have nice drums. I like the variation you have with the snare throughout. And your levels are just right. What do you use for production? Overall its a solid beat.

eppskevin responds:

Hey Dureagon, I really appreciate that! I was able to get quite a bit of drum kits (J Dilla, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, DJ Premier, Rza, and a lot more). I can send them to you if you'd like if you send me your email. I also started a facebook group that's all about collaborating and helping people grow. We have a lot of goodies available for download there, like Isotope, Waves, and even Kontakt. So let me know if you want to join up or send you those download links.

Really love the tempo. sample work it spot on and it has a really relaxing style. It has some relaly high tones that need to be limited (or just turned down) Other than that i like it.

BOULLIE responds:

Much respect.

Thanks for tuning in.

John Coltrane up in this!

well its grimey, and theres nothing wrong with that. I like the ambiance you gave it, overall its filthy.

war-spawn responds:

Dureagon, you have too much swag for you own good. I'm actually glad to see that you kept consistent with your production. And thanks for the review

Im all about simplicity. This has enough going on for a cool old school flip. Feels like a jazzmatazz joint in some parts. Or that old mobb deep vibe. Solid production as always.

eppskevin responds:

Yeah, man I love jazzmatazz! I appreciate that. Finally back to come your way now!
